Scoring and Ranking
Ranking Criteria:
- 10 Regular Season Tournaments
- Only each player's top 5 scores will contribute to the final rankings
- To qualify, a player must participate at least 3 tournaments
Championship Tournament Criteria:
- The top 9 ranked players will make the final Tournament in November based on the ranking criteria above.
- If one of the top 9 ranked players cannot make the tournament then the next highest ranked player will take their place.
- The Championship Tournament will be a "Freeroll" with a prize pool of $400 and will pay 3 spots
- The chip counts for each player will be determined based on rank.
I.E.: 9th place will receive $2,000 and 1st place will receive $3,600 with each place in between differing by $200.
Scoring Formula:
This scoring formula is known as "Dr. Neau's Formual". It is built to reward consistant performance and placing in more difficult tournaments.
score = sqrt((a * b) * (b / c)) / (d + 1.0)
where
a = Tournament Buy-in Count
b = Player Buy-in Expense
c = Player Total Expense
d = Player Finish
The Guiding Principles
- The higher you finish, the more points you should get
- Larger tournaments are harder to win than smaller tournaments
- Higher buy-in tournaments are taken more seriously than smaller buy-in tournaments
- Profitability counts
- Point structure should mimic payout structure
- Encourage participation
- Rebuys and Addons negatively affect total score. Slightly.
